Why Everol is the Best?

Our proprietary Drag Scale gives fisherman a huge advantage in fighting big fish. “Line Drag Management” is now scientific, not guesswork.

Drag System Secrets

Everol Drag System

The Everol Drag Scale was unique and innovative in 1958 and it is just as revolutionary more than 70 years later. This is the only reel on the planet that tells you how much drag you are applying on the line at any moment in time. It is a huge advantage in catching fish over 200 pounds. It is an almost unfair advantage when fishing in big money tournaments with jackpots reaching $1,000,000.

The system is simple! The numbers on the outer ring represent the amount of drag in pounds being applied for any given lever position when the spool is almost full of line. The middle set of numbers corresponds to the drag being applied with Half a spool of line remaining. Finally, the inner numbers correlate to the drag setting with the reel almost empty of fishing line.

To maintain a constant drag force, a skilled angler must slowly pull back on the drag lever as the fish takes line.

Captain's Idiot Stop

It is officially called the Drag Stop Ring, but we informally refer to it as the Captain’s Idiot Stop. You have seen it happen a hundred times if you have seen it once. While trolling a spread someone hears a clicker go off and they run to the reel and jam the drag level forward to set the hook. “Unfortunately, the drag lever is pushed too far forward and instantly the line breaks, releasing that monster tuna or marlin.”

That can never happen with an Everol. The drag stop ring can be set to a maximum setting before the boat leaves the dock. So no matter how strong your fisherman is he will not be able to advance the drag lever too far and lose your prize fish.

Dual Purpose The beauty of the system is that during an intense battle with a fish, this idiot stop can be rotated all the way around by the fisherman or a deck mate to block the angler from accidently pulling the drag lever back too far and going into free spool. Doing this will cause an instant backlash (bird’s nest) which will break the line, allowing the fish to escape. (Remember as the fish takes line off the reel you must pull back on the drag lever to maintain a constant force on the fish.)

The Best Money Can Buy

Unless you’re a commercial fisherman, no one buys a reel to eat.  It is a Want, not a Need.  You use it for a recreational sport . . .a very expensive sport.  However, those who want a reel in this class typically want the best… Super High Quality.  These are the people who buy Everols’.  They are willing to spend $400-3,000 for a reel and in exchange demand great craftsmanship and rugged materials that will last not for years, but for decades or even lifetimes.  These people choose Everol.

Everol makes handcrafted saltwater fishing reels.  We do not make bikes or blenders.  Most fishing equipment made today is produced in China or Taiwan.  This is fine; if you want high volume and a cheap price.  Everols are handmade, one at a time, in a small factory in Italy.  Imagine a grey haired man in a white shop coat.  Rough hands.  A sharp eye that misses nothing.  Meticulous attention to detail. You can order Chinese tackle by the container load.  Order 20 Everols and you will have to wait.  But when they are ready you will have reel that will last. Take care of it and it will take care of you for a lifetime.   With care it may in fact be “Your Grandson’s Next Reel.” Anglers willing to spend $600-3,000 per offshore reel have many manufacturers to choose from.  Penn, Shimano and Avet make good fishing reels for big game fish like marlin, tuna, shark and swordfish. There is another choice for those who want to ‘invest’ in a handmade piece of fishing artwork.  Everol’s battle tested design may win you a tournament, make you famous on YouTube and TikTok or put you in a I.G.F.A record book. Or maybe you make a lifetime memory with your children or wife.
